Wi-Fi SSID Exclusion
Wi-Fi SSID Exclusion allows you to filter specific network names from logging and streaming. This feature helps protect privacy and focus surveys on relevant networks.
Use Cases
Section titled “Use Cases”- Privacy: Exclude home or office networks from logging
- Focus: Filter out known networks to focus on unknowns
- Data Reduction: Reduce file sizes by excluding common SSIDs
- Upload Privacy: Don’t upload personal networks to public databases
Configuring Exclusions
Section titled “Configuring Exclusions”Settings → SSID Exclusion List
- Tap the plus sign in the top right corner
- Enter exact SSID name (case-sensitive)
- Tap “Add”
- Repeat for additional SSIDs
To remove:
- Tap the delete icon next to SSID
- Confirm
SSIDs can also be added/removed from the Wi-Fi details screen.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”When SSID is excluded:
- Not written to log files
- Not streamed via MQTT/gRPC
- Not synced to NS Analytics
- Not uploaded to OpenCelliD/BeaconDB
- Still visible in real-time Wi-Fi card (just not logged)
Matching:
- Exact match only (case-sensitive)
- “MyNetwork” ≠ “mynetwork”
- Wildcards not supported
- Must match complete SSID
