Wi-Fi SSID Exclusion

Wi-Fi SSID Exclusion allows you to filter specific network names from logging and streaming. This feature helps protect privacy and focus surveys on relevant networks.

  • Privacy: Exclude home or office networks from logging
  • Focus: Filter out known networks to focus on unknowns
  • Data Reduction: Reduce file sizes by excluding common SSIDs
  • Upload Privacy: Don’t upload personal networks to public databases

Settings → SSID Exclusion List

  1. Tap the plus sign in the top right corner
  2. Enter exact SSID name (case-sensitive)
  3. Tap “Add”
  4. Repeat for additional SSIDs

To remove:

  1. Tap the delete icon next to SSID
  2. Confirm

SSIDs can also be added/removed from the Wi-Fi details screen.

When SSID is excluded:

  • Not written to log files
  • Not streamed via MQTT/gRPC
  • Not synced to NS Analytics
  • Not uploaded to OpenCelliD/BeaconDB
  • Still visible in real-time Wi-Fi card (just not logged)

Matching:

  • Exact match only (case-sensitive)
  • “MyNetwork” ≠ “mynetwork”
  • Wildcards not supported
  • Must match complete SSID
